Background: Nagalim, also
referred to as Nagaland, is located in Northeast India in the region
of Burma and China. In
1947 the country declared its independence with the United Nations,
one day before India. Having its declaration of acknowledged by the
United Nations, Nagalim later saw its independence overtaken by the
Government of India, but never joined India by conquest or consent – a
distinction that makes Nagalim’s history unique from other
independence movements within India. Nagalim is a mountainous and
forested region inhabited by approximately 4 million people over
several thousand towns and villages.
